|Meanwhile, in the greenhouse...
Dramatically frigid temperatures led us to seek some drastic measures in keeping the greenhouse warm this winter. Since we were unable to afford expensive, hard-cell greenhouse skin, we had to improvise by suspending a second layer of plastic sheeting from the bottom of the support ribs. We used scrap plastic to seal the end walls and foam board to cover the vents. It wasn't easy, and it isn't pretty, but it proved to be very effective in keeping our plants warm and comfy.
Toby Mize wheels large tropical plants into the greenhouse for safekeeping.

The greenhouse glows ominously at night.
Inside, all is toasty in this night time shot.
Long time Chandor Gardens supporter Bill Warren came out to take a few photos of the icy garden, and encountered a rare sight ...an icicle-encrusted waterfall. Even more interesting was the icy shell that had formed around our floating gazing ball, which broke off as he was photographing the scene. Within seconds, it sunk under the water and was gone.
